The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of governorship candidates for Nigeria’s 2027 elections, detailing the candidates nominated by political parties across the states covered by the list.
The publication provides voters with information about the candidates and their political party affiliations ahead of the upcoming governorship elections.
According to reports published on October 11, 2026, the list includes several prominent political figures and candidates seeking to lead their respective states.
Notable Names on INEC’s 2027 List
Among the candidates listed are Kingsley Chinda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Dumo Lulu-Briggs of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), and Gabriel Pidomson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Other notable names include Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat of the APC, Olamilekan Adeola of the APC in Ogun State, and Sharafadeen Alli of the APC in Oyo State.
However, some expected candidates were excluded from the final list. Premium Times reported that Isa Pantami, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in Gombe State, and Ladi Adebutu, the party’s candidate in Ogun State, were among those omitted.
The exclusions reportedly followed a Supreme Court judgment concerning provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 and party membership requirements for participation in primaries.
