The competition promises to be fierce than ever, with the stars of heavyweight of Africa such as David Aguos de Africa de los Aguos de Music de Africa. Union Commission (AUC), presented the list of official nominees for the 2025 edition.

This year’s nominations followed a record of 10,717 tickets, the highest since the beginning of Africa 12 years ago. An international jury of 13 members, after 10 days of adjudication, selected 343 nominated in 40 categories, representing the five regions of Africa and the diaspora.

The International Agrima Committee confirmed that the public vote will open worldwide on September 10, 2025, through the official Africa website (www.afrima.org). Music lovers in Africa and the diaspora will be able to participate in the determination of the winners in the various categories. The vote will close on the eve of the main awards on November 30.

Burna Boy and Davido de Nigeria obtained five nominations each. Burna Boy’s album, no sign of Welidness, and Davido’s 5ive were nominated for the album of the year, while their successful singles also earned them places in Song of the Year and Best Collaboration.

DJ Maphorisa of South Africa agreed with five noddings, including the best African DJ and the album of the year. The rap star of Morocco, the great Toto, also obtained five nominations, with his album Salgoat and the success of a diplomatic calling global attention.

The sensation of Pop-Pop by Nigeria, Shallipopi, also stood up with four nominations, including artist of the year and Song of the Year for his collaboration Laho.

Mia Guissé and Moliy de Senegal and Moliy de Ghana joined the superior group with five nominations each, which shows that female acts are now commanding a great influence on the musical stage of the continent.

One of the best -selling artists throughout the Middle East, the AMR Diab of Egypt obtained four nominations, just when Himra de Côte D’IVorire collected three nominations, including the album of the year. His Big Aka 4 album, also known as Kai and Hip-Hop collaborations have made him one of the strongest newcomers in this year’s race.

Diamond Platnumz de Tanzania took four nominations, continuing its domain in East Africa. The star of South Africa, Tyla and the uncle of Eswatini, Waffles obtained four nominations, confirming the increasing power of poppia and the Afro-Casas sounds.

Dr. Congo’s heavyweights don’t stay out. Fally Ipupa got three nominations, including the artist of the year, while Ferre Gola obtained three nods, including composer of the year.

In North Africa, Jaylann de Morocco received three nominations, while Jux Jux de Tanzania also scored three, including the song of the year for Ololufe Mi. South Africa produced two triple nominees: Mawhoo, recognized by his successful Bengicela, and the rap star Nasty C, who received three noddes for his soft song.

Nigeria’s Resa also emerged with three nominations, including Artiste of the Year and Best Male in West Africa.

Ayra Starr has two nominations, but he is playing the artist of the year with great stars such as Davido, Burna Boy and the Great Toto.

The diaspora also shone on the list, with male nominees such as DJ Snake, Gazo, Niska, Tayc, Tiakola, Tif, Werenoi, Wizthemc, L’Arino and Odeaal making the cut. On the female side, the nominees include Aya Nakamura, Annatorio, Choisie Basolua, Darkoo, Deborah Lukalu, Faouzia, Ronisia, the presented, Theodora and Zaho.

The member of the Aphrima jury, Delani Makhalima, who represents the southern Africa region in the panel, described the list of 2025 nominees as proof of to what extent African music has arrived.

“It has been our dream for a long time to work so hard to get to a place where everyone can listen to African music. We were marginalized for so many years; our voices were not heard as artists, as creators, as song composers, as producers, as engineers, as creators of videos, such as movie films. In collaboration with the African Union Commission, Africa 2025 is being organized together with the federal government of Nigeria and the official host city, the state of Lagos.

The celebration of 2025 will be extended from November 25 to 30, 2025, with the welcome evening, the Aphrima Music village, the Music Business Summit in Africa, a City host tour, the feast of the nominees and the main awards ceremony. The grand final on November 30 will be broadcast live to more than 84 countries worldwide.
