Denver Broncos outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper has been placed on the NFL’s Commissioner’s Exempt List.

The Broncos confirmed the move on Sunday as the team finalized its 53-man roster for the 2026 NFL season.

Cooper will not be allowed to practice or play while he remains on the exempt list.

The move comes as the 28-year-old faces domestic violence-related legal proceedings. ESPN reports that Cooper is scheduled to appear in Douglas County, Colorado, court for an arraignment.

Cooper has been an important part of Denver’s defense. He recorded 8 sacks during the 2025 season and has 23.5 sacks in his Broncos career.
