Nigeria’s gas sector is undergoing a major transformation as fresh investments and infrastructure projects move the country closer to fully monetising its vast gas resources.

The development has seen more than ₦1.6 trillion invested across gas-related projects, while the government has approved about ₦671 billion in Final Investment Decisions (FIDs).

According to a recent report, the investments cover a portfolio of 31 projects and 205 infrastructure assets, aimed at increasing domestic gas supply and strengthening Nigeria’s energy infrastructure.

Focus on Gas Development

The growing investment is expected to support electricity generation, industrial activities and wider economic growth by making better use of Nigeria’s abundant natural gas resources.

The projects are also part of broader efforts to reduce gas wastage and create more value from the country’s energy resources.

If successfully implemented, the development could create jobs, attract additional investment and improve energy access across Nigeria.

Nigeria is turning its gas resources into working assets as investments exceed ₦1.6 trillion across 31 projects and 205 infrastructure assets.
