The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has warned Nigerian girls against sextortion, online blackmail and involvement in cybercrime.
Speaking at an event in Abuja to mark the International Day of the Girl Child, Olukoyede urged young women to be careful in their relationships and avoid falling victim to online criminals.
He said, “A girl with integrity will always outlast a girl with only make-up. Your integrity is your crown. Do not sell it cheap.”
The EFCC chairman also warned girls against allowing internet fraudsters to use their bank accounts for illegal transactions. He encouraged them to learn practical skills, earn money legally and develop good saving habits.
According to him, financial independence and integrity can help young women resist exploitation and make better decisions.
The EFCC also promotes integrity among students through school clubs established to encourage ethical behaviour and discourage corruption.
