Florida Judge Orders Trump to Hand Over Financial Records in $10 Billion Defamation Lawsuit Against BBC

A Florida judge has ordered U.S. President Donald Trump to provide financial records requested by the BBC as part of its defense in a $10 billion defamation lawsuit filed by Trump. The ruling marks an early legal setback in the high-profile case.

The lawsuit stems from a Panorama documentary about Trump’s January 6, 2021, speech. The BBC argues it needs the financial records to assess Trump’s claim that the broadcast caused billions of dollars in damages.

The court granted the BBC’s request for records from the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, while issuing a separate ruling on documents related to the January 6 Capitol attack. The decision may still be appealed.

The BBC has also asked the court to dismiss the lawsuit, arguing the documentary was not broadcast in the United States. That request is still pending, and the case remains ongoing.
