China has announced that BRICS nations are advancing plans for a digital currency designed to strengthen cross-border trade and reduce reliance on the U.S. dollar in global transactions. The development comes as the Inter-Cross Border Payment System (ICPS) reportedly reaches record levels, highlighting a potential shift in the international financial landscape.
If implemented, the initiative could reshape global payment systems and increase the role of BRICS economies in international finance. However, no official launch date for a common BRICS digital currency has been confirmed.
