Nigerian striker Victor Boniface’s anticipated loan move to AC Milan has fallen through after the 24-year-old failed his medical tests, forcing the Serie A club to call off the deal.

Boniface, who had spent the last 48 hours in Milan undergoing medical examinations at La Madonnina Clinic and Galeazzi Hospital, was sent back to Germany on Sunday without approval to finalize the move.

The forward’s medical history, which includes two cruciate ligament injuries during his time at Bodø/Glimt in 2019 as well as recurring muscle issues, was reportedly central to Milan’s decision to proceed with caution.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the collapse of the deal on his social media page, stating: “⚠️ AC Milan call Victor Boniface deal off as Nigerian striker did not pass the medical tests. Despite verbal agreement for €5m loan fee and €24m buy clause with player in Milano in the last 48h, deal called off due to medical. Boniface, returning in Germany today.”

The agreement between Milan and Bayer Leverkusen had been structured as a €5 million loan with a €24 million option to buy.

However, the failed medical highlights how fitness concerns remain a decisive factor in multi-million-euro transfers.
